Starhawk Beta Now Open to Everyone

THE BUZZ: Sony has announced the Starhawk beta is now available to all PlayStation 3 users.
The beta began back in January for a select few, then PlayStation Plus members were allowed in, and now it’s a free for all. ”In the coming weeks we’ll be upgrading the Beta a ton. You can expect a new map, new vehicles, new weapons, 32-player max matches and more,” Sony said on the PlayStation Blog. ”Remember, this is still a beta, not a demo. We are actively finding and fixing problems – and we need your feedback.”
EGM’s TAKE: This is quite a long beta for a console game. Obviously Sony wants to make sure that the launch of Starhawk goes completely without a hitch, and has a fully working online component from day one, which is quite a sound strategy. Also it allows them to advertise the game more by offering a free sample in order to convince players to purchase the retail version. Sony obviously wants Starhawk to be a success and by what’s been shown so far it certainly has that potential.
