Valve has announced that the Steam Linux closed beta has been expanded to celebrate the holidays.

5,000 new users have been invited to try out the Ubuntu client so if you have signed up be sure to check your inbox for an invite and you could be spending the long holiday weekend on Steam. Valve added that it is making good progress with the client which was first released to testers earlier this month.
