Steam Music beta coming to SteamOS and Big Picture mode

Posted on February 3, 2014 AT 11:54am

Valve will soon introduce a Steam Music beta to Big Picture and SteamOS that allows players to listen to their music while gaming, the company announced.

Steam Music allows users to point Steam toward local music files and listen to tunes while gaming directly through Steam in an interface not dissimilar to iTunes in concept. Once tracks and albums are added, players can manage their playlists by accessing the Steam Music player through their controller’s guide button or through Big Picture’s main menu if using a keyboard and mouse.

Those interesting in participating in the Steam Music beta can join the Steam Music community group, who will be invited “in waves” to provide feedback on the beta until the feature becomes available to all.
