Steam Receives Remote Download Function

Valve has released a new Steam beta client that introduces a remote download function.

The new feature allows you to begin a download to the PC version of Steam via your mobile phone browser, using the Steam website. As if we needed any more reasons to spend ridiculous amounts of money, now we can do it on the move. There are going to be a lot of light wallets in the world after this update.

Two other issues resolved via this update are:

  • Reduced excessive system memory usage while downloading updates in some cases
  • Added debug code to diagnose download issues

To download the beta client go File -> Settings and then on the Account tab press the change button under the Beta section. You can then select the new client. Steam will download the update and then restart. The service is constantly evolving and changing, which is what makes it so popular. Constant improvements go a long way towards winning fans.

Will you make use of this new function?
