Street Fighter V adds one classic character and a brand new weirdo

Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition just got two new characters: the mysterious “president” G and longtime Ryu rival Sagat.

Capcom announced the surprise arrival of G and Sagat, the final fighters from Character Pack 3, during last night’s EVO 2018 Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition finals, which ended with M. Bison player Benjamin “Problem-X” Simon bringing home the gold for the United Kingdom for the first time in the competition’s history, beating out defending champ Hajime “Tokido” Taniguchi’s Akuma.

Sagat should look pretty familiar to longtime fans of the series, with his character trailer showing off that zone-y goodness and punishing punishes.

G, on the other hand, is… something else entirely.

Featuring an Honest Abe–esque stovepipe hat and an unexpected southern drawl, G “wishes to unify the world as its president” and “decides to spread his message in a way the modern world can understand: through social media,” according to his character trailer. The effectiveness of G’s special moves are directly correlated to his “presidentiality level,” which is reset when he’s knocked down, making him a momentum-based character. His V skill creates a force field. His V Trigger 1 turns his force field into a projectile, and his V Trigger 2 unlocks an uppercut called G Explosion and a command grab called G Rage. Playing against G means you’ll want to knock him down or otherwise suffer the brunt of his insane offensive potential.

Street Figher V: Arcade Edition is available on PlayStation 4 and PC.

Everyone's excited Street Fighter V is adding Sagat, but the real star of the show is obviously Twitter Abe Lincoln.
