Capcom’s newest entry in the Street Fighter series was definitely bound for mobile devices, and know we officially know that Street Fighter X Tekken is coming to iOS devices. Hopefully, this port performs better than the original game did on consoles, although those particular problems can be narrowed to a few iffy practices concerning special content and DLC packages.

Only Ryu, Chun-Li, Kazuya, and Nina Williams have been confirmed for this version according to the official press release, and at least we’re getting that much. Mobile Street Fighter ports generally get reduced rosters, anyway.

Capcom also says that this version has “a complete redesign of controls and UI with mobile devices,” but judging by the screenshots, the biggest improvement in my book is the character-to-screen-size ratio, which has always seemed “off” on PS3 and Xbox 360.

When the game hits the App Store, look for “Street Fighter x Tekken Mobile” and make sure your iPhone 4/4S, iPod Touch, iPad2, or the new iPad is working with iOS 5 or higher. There’s no release date yet, but the current plan is “this summer.”
