Street Fighter X Tekken producer talks about the guest appearance by inFAMOUS’s main character Cole MacGrath

Posted on August 2, 2011 AT 04:33pm

Guest characters have become a big part of fighting games these days, and that’ll be no different for the upcoming Street Fighter X Tekken. For the PS3 and PS Vita versions of the game, inFAMOUS leading man Cole MacGrath will joing the fight, and the official PlayStation Blog had a change to talk about Cole with the game’s producer, Yoshinori Ono.

Speaking to the PS Blog, Ono said that he thought Cole seemed well-suited to fighting games, due to the cool moves he could do. At the same time, inFAMOUS developer Sucker Punch was actually interested in doing a tie-in with Street Fighter, so the timing was perfect.

Interestingly, inFAMOUS 2 was still in development when the deal began, so Ono’s team didn’t know that Cole was going to end up using a weapon in the final game. So, at first, he was much more based on how he was in the original inFAMOUS.

“If I was going to compare him to any character, it would be Seth he has a lot of sneaky, tricky moves,” Ono said when describing Cole’s play style. “I took the latest build of Street Fighter X Tekken up to Sucker Punch just before EVO, and even those guys were wondering if Cole wasnt too strong [laughs]. So theres still some tuning to be done. I dont want to upset Street Fighter and Tekken fans by making the strongest character from neither camp!”
