THE BUZZ: After Super Street Fighter IV and Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3, have you decided to wait for some future update of Street Fighter X Tekken before buying the game? Don’t worry, says the game’s producer.
In an interview with Gematsu, Street Fighter X Tekken producer Yoshinori Ono was asked what he would tell consumers who might be thinking they should wait for an updated version of the game before buying it.
“If we decide to create a new version of the game, we will go with the Street Fighter IV series route, by providing online update patches for the game,” Ono told Gematsu. “So I would say that you don’t really need to worry about a new version of the game coming out. If we choose to update the game, it will be done in the same fashion as Street Fighter IV: Arcade Edition [laugh].”
EGM’s TAKE: This really has been an issue for customers in terms of Capcom’s recently efforts at reviving their fighting game franchises—that worry that a game might soon be outdated by an updated retail copy. As much as possible, fans should be able to buy the original copy of the game, and continue on with future revisions without ever needing to buy another physical copy. So, I think it’s good on Ono-san’s part to make a statement like this.
