Summer Games Done Quick raises more than $700,000 for charity

Posted on June 30, 2014 AT 04:15am

Speed Demos Archive has announced that its latest speed running gaming marathon stream has raised over $700,000 for the charity Doctors Without Borders.

For those that are unaware, Games Done Quick is a bi-annual charity gaming marathon where volunteers speedrun games for entertainment. The event is streamed live online, non-stop, via Twitch, and all donations go directly to the chosen charity. This is the second of the two events, with a winter event held in January.

A grand total of $713,338.96 was raised for the Doctors Without Borders charity during this latest event. This brings the total raised by all Games Done Quick marathons to over $2.75 million.

The event is now over, but you can still donate and catch some bonus content over on the official site.
