It looks like all the sexy content in the Japanese version of Super Monkey Ball: Banana Splitz isn’t coming stateside, as the trailer for the series’ PS Vita installment in North America is noticeably absent of bikini models and bouncy breasts.
Back when Sega launched a marketing campaign for Super Monkey Ball on the PS Vita in Japan last April, the developer recruited quite a few “gravure” models for their ads. Generally, the theme was having those models play the game while bouncing and rocking on rodeo chairs and exercise balls.
Granted, that’s not such a strange thing in Japan, although more conservative American customers and watchdog groups might not have reacted very well to levels filled with “cleavage ramps” and risqué pictures.
And so, we bring you to the launch trailer for the U.S. version of the game, with a completely innocent “E for Everyone” rating from the ESRB, and no hint of Japanese bikini model Yukie Kawamura. Personally, I liked the Japanese ads better.
Super Monkey Ball: Banana Splitz launches for the PS Vita on October 23rd, and just like the iPad and iPhone versions, you’ll have to physically tilt the levels to get through each maze (or use the analog sticks, if you choose the standard control scheme). If you want to make you own “adult” levels or something more suited to your tastes, you can still use the PS Vita’s built-in camera to snap pictures and toss them into the level editor.
