Super Smash Bros

Fresh off the heels of its EVO 2018 showcase, Nintendo is getting ready to unveil new details on Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.

According to a recent tweet from Nintendo Versus, a special Nintendo Direct focused on the upcoming brawler will be held on August 8th at 7 a.m. PT. It’s unclear what details will be revealed, but it was announced that “new game information” will be delivered by director Masahiro Sakurai.

The last major updated fans were given on Ultimate was during this year’s E3. It was revealed every fighter that’s ever been playable in the franchise will return in the upcoming game, as well as a large selection of recognizable stages. Plus, Metroid’s Ridley and Super Mario’s Daisy will join the roster for the first time. Perhaps the Direct will unveil a few more new fighters, such as the rumored arrival of Castlevania’s Simon Belmont.

Outside of gameplay, Nintendo has also decided to offer three new amiibo—Ridley, Inkling Girl, and Wolf—that will launch on December 7th, the same day as Ultimate. Previously released figurines of Super Smash Bros. characters will be getting new production runs, as well, though Nintendo has yet to announce specific release plans for the U.S. Maybe we’ll learn more this week.

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate will launch for Nintendo Switch on December 7th.
