Supergiant Exploring Subtle Multiplayer for Transistor

Transistor will include “under-the-hood” multiplayer, Transistor creative director Greg Kasavin told Rock, Paper, Shotgun.

“There’s a lot that we’re still exploring there [with multiplayer],” Kasavin told Rock, Paper, Shotgun. “Whatever we end up doing, we’ll probably want to be pretty subtle. It’ll be something a little more under-the-hood that hopefully adds an interesting dimension to the world.”

Which, to me, sounds like something Journeyesque. However multiplayer manifests in Transistor, it won’t be in the conventional sense—Kasavin says no “deathmatch arenas or whatever.”

“For example, players can sometimes see traces of other players’ paths moving around,” said Kasavin. “What’s interesting to us about this world is that it lends itself to some interesting things like that.”

Transistor was revealed during PAX East in March, where a playable demo was on hand. Our reviews guru Ray Carsillo got some face time with Supergiant’s new game. You can read his hands-on impressions here.
