Overwatch

Blizzard may be working on a new project or game in the Overwatch universe.

The gaming company recently posted an ad seeking a Generalist Artist Intern, a position that allows a student to work for Blizzard Entertainment over the summer semester. What’s exciting, though, is that this intern would be working on “an unannounced project” that seems to be based around Overwatch.

The job posting asks for applicants with “knowledge and understanding of the Overwatch universe” as well as previous experience as a “prop artist or an equivalent type role” in order to “help create a wide range of assets… [including] hard surface and organic props, weapons and possibly characters that are both detail-oriented and consistent with the art style we’ve defined.”

It’s probably a bit early for a sequel to Overwatch, especially since Blizzard continues to update and add new content to the current game on a regular basis. It’s possible, though, that this project could be something that adds on to the current game—perhaps a new mode, a single-player story, or some other interactive stand-alone project that requires tons of character art.

At this point, it’s all speculation. However, BlizzCon, Blizzard’s annual gaming event, is less than a month away. If this project is anywhere near set to come out in the next year, then we’ll likely get a hint or two when the convention kicks off on November 3rd.

Emma’s early gaming was mostly done in secret, as the only gamer in a family of normal people. She still retains skills from this dark period in her life, such as the ability to teleport instantly across the house away from the computer, and holds a gold medal in the Olympic sport of “Hide the Gameboy.” Sorry, Mom, now you know.
