Survey finds Valve where most game devs would most like to work

Posted on August 20, 2014 AT 01:55pm

According to a survey conducted by the Independent Game Developers Association, the most sought-after company developers want to work at is Valve.

The survey polled over 2,200 developers from within the industry. Second to Valve in the most desirable work environments in the video game industry is the ever-growing “My own company” scene. Valve, of course, is known for having a non-traditional company structure that eschews job titles and conventional hierarchies. And one’s own company, of course, certainly reflects the growing number of indie operations being formed by industry veterans.

Other popular places to work (at least, in theory) are Activision Blizzard, BioWare, and Ubisoft. The top 10 choices cited by those polled, in order, are as follows:

1. Valve

2. My own company

3. Activision Blizzard

4. BioWare

5. Ubisoft

6. Current employer

7. Nintendo

8. Naughty Dog

9. Double Fine

10. Bethesda Game Studios
