THE BUZZ: Syndicate developer Starbreeze has announced plans to purchase Overkill Software, creators of Payday: The Heist.

The deal isn’t official yet, as it is still pending approval from Starbreeze’s shareholders. Both companies are located in Stockholm, Sweden.

EGM’s TAKE: Overkill enjoyed fantastic sales from Payday, so it’s no surprise that Starbreeze wants them. The Payday IP could become a rather lucrative one in the future, and the added experience of Starbreeze will certainly help Overkill to grow as a studio. This is a pretty nice deal for both parties involved, but now it’s up to the shareholders.
