Take a Trip down Memory Lane with Final Fantasy VIII on Steam

Final Fantasy VIII is finally available on Steam, complete with a new Magic Booster feature and a copy of Chocobo World.

Final Fantasy VIII was first released for the original PlayStation back in September 1999, it then got a PC release in 2000, and was later re-released on the PlayStation Store in December 2009. Now players can enjoy the game on their PC—again—with support for higher resolutions, but sadly no graphical updates.

The Magic Booster that comes with the game is essentially a help feature for those struggling with the game difficulty, or just looking for an easy time. When used it will add 100 of the following spells: Cure, Cura, Curaga, Fire, Fira, Blizzard, Blizzara, Thunder, Thundara, Sleep, Blind, Silence, Berserk, Bio, Esuna, Aero, Confuse, Break, and Zombie.

Finally Chocobo World is a virtual pet mini-game that was originally designed for the PlayStation’s PocketStation peripheral—a memory card with second-screen functionality. On PC, Chocobo World is available to play directly from the launcher.

Final Fantasy VIII is available now via Steam for $11.99.
