Sonic Boom

Team Sonic Racing might be missing the other Sega all-stars from its predecessor, but it’s looking to pack in a full roster of Sonic favorites. Recently, Sega announced three new characters and a new track that players will get a chance to try for the first time at Gamescom 2018.

Representing Team Vector in Team Sonic Racing, Vector the Crocodile, Blaze the Cat, and Silver the Hedgehog are the latest characters to join the character select screen.

Fans at Gamescom will have the first crack at these three, along with Team Rose, which includes Amy Rose, the Chaos, and Big the freaking Cat. (I can’t be the only one hyped on Big, right?) Gamescom attendees will test drive these characters on the new snowy, slippery track, Ice Mountain.

We weren’t super stoked on the fact that it’s dropping the other Sega characters and the whole transformation mechanic, but Team Sonic Racing is looking like it’s shaping up to be a pretty solid game. Heck, it was just nominated for Best Racing Game alongside Forza Horizon 4 and F1 2018 in this year’s Gamescom awards list, so it can’t be that bad, right?

Team Sonic Racing is set to launch later this year, though it still doesn’t have a specific release date. Expect it on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
