Telltale Abandons Plans for Episodic King’s Quest Series

Posted on April 3, 2013 AT 02:37pm

Telltale Games is no longer planning an episodic series based on King’s Quest, reports Digital Trends.

“While we deeply love King’s Quest here at Telltale, we can confirm that we are no longer working on the franchise,” Telltale’s senior vice-president of publishing Steve Allison told Digital Trends. “There was a time last year that we investigated partnering with third party developers to produce the game as a partnership but decided against outsourcing. We are not privy to what plans Activision has for the franchise, if any.”

According to Digital Trends, the issue is a matter of bandwidth. Allison informed Replay Games president and founder Paul Trowe, who co-founded the company with King’s Quest creator Roberta Williams, that between The Walking Dead and their upcoming Fables prequel The Wolf Among Us Telltale simply does not have the resources to support King’s Quest.
