THE BUZZ: En Masse and Frogster have announced the launch schedule for their upcoming MMO TERA, along with a date for the game’s open beta.
Players who pre-ordered the game will be able to create their first character between April 13 and 17, in order to reserve their names. The open beta will then begin April 20 and run until April 23, while players who pre-order can join the open beta a day earlier on April 19.
Finally players with a pre-order can access the game three days before its official launch date on April 28.
EGM’s TAKE: TERA moves away from conventional MMOs by offering a target free, action orientated battle system. While this is fun an intuitive at first, during our time with the closed beta we did find it lacking excitement. Basically the game revolves around spamming the same couple of moves repeatedly and becomes boring real quick. Everything else you would expect to find in a traditional MMO is present, however Battlegrounds (PVP) have been removed for launch and will be added at a later date.
