THE BUZZ: Forget Capcom vs. SNK, or Mario vs. Sonic, the match-up of the new generation is Professor Layton vs. Phoenix Wright! The game will take place in a parallel universe, where characters from both the Professor Layton and Ace Attorney franchises find themselves entangled in a series of witch trials. Here’s a new trailer from the game, fresh for Tokyo Game Show 2011.

EGM’s TAKE: I guess I haven’t been paying enough attention—I didn’t know that the majority of the game wasn’t 2D sprites! The characters from both sides are looking pretty darn awesome via this game engine. As for the game itself, let’s be honest—you know it’s going to be crazy, and good, and crazy good.
