THE BUZZ: A massive Resident Evil rumor mill has been turning over the last few hours, after an apparent teaser trailer for Resident Evil 6 leaked online. It has now been confirmed fake.

A few hours ago a teaser trailer leaked online which claimed to be from a presentation, behind closed doors, by Capcom. The trailer begins by saying “The world has seen all kinds of horror… Bio-organic weapons have taken over,” with the sounds of the Resident Evil typewriter in the background before closing with the Biohazard 6 logo. Capcom Japan staff confirmed the video as legitimate which led several outlets to start running with it, however Capcom America staff refused to comment stating the usual “no comment on rumors or speculation” line which made people start to doubt the video’s credibility. Finally IGN Editor Rich George took to his twitter account stating:

“Resident Evil 6 teaser is fake. This comes from multiple contacts at Capcom.”

This then forced an agreement among everyone that the trailer is indeed fake.

EGM’s TAKE: We can see why many people believed this to be real, the trailer is really well put together, and even though it’s been confirmed fake it’s still worth a look.
