Thatgamecompany Opens Online Store, Not Selling Journey Scarves Yet

Despite creating some of the most original downloadable titles in the last years, Jenova Chen and thatgamecompany are in a bit of a weird spot as far as sales and promotional materials. Even though investment deals have made the indie developer studio a private company, Sony still has control of the rights to thatgamecompany’s titles on PlayStation Network, so they can’t sell any Journey scarves or Flower jackets—yet.
Still, that didn’t stop thatgamecompany from opening up an online store, as they made the announcement earlier last week that they would be selling a limited edition set:
We currently don’t have licensing from Sony to sell flOw, Flower, and Journey merchandise, but for now you can buy official thatgamecompany merch for the first time! We’ll add more products as time goes by, so keep an eye out on the store or our Facebook and Twitter pages, or our Forums, to see when we add more products.
Right now, the only thing for sale at their store is a “Koko/Gylph” shirt with a selection of cards and button, which you can snatch up for $20 in men’s and women’s sizes. We bet that they can’t even use color schemes that reference their games, which probably accounts for the safe, gray tones.
