The second season of the Castlevania animated show will be twice as long as the first, one of its creators confirmed—and it’ll be here pretty soon.
Warren Ellis, the writer of Castlevania, dropped a quick “FAQ” tweet on Twitter earlier this week. While his message is short, he revealed that the second season of the show will be eight episodes long, and will be arriving “sometime later this year.”
FAQ: #CASTLEVANIA season 2 will be 8 episodes long, out sometime later this year. I don’t have the release date yet – these things are decided by people other than me. Lots and lots of great animators are working incredibly hard on it. You’ll have plenty of warning of the date. pic.twitter.com/9aZ6S1dD6z

The first season of Castlevania released almost exactly one year ago on Netflix, and was only four episodes long. The new season will also appear on Netflix, and from the sound of it, there will be some kind of announcement of a release date before the show itself is out.
Castlevania isn’t the only game-inspired animated show appearing on Netflix. Adi Shankar, the showrunner behind Castlevania, is working on bringing an Assassin’s Creed-themed anime to the streaming service. He’s also expressed interest in making a dark Metroid-based project, though this one isn’t in the works yet.
The first season of Castlevania is currently available on Netflix.
