Open-world racing is back with Ubisoft’s announcement of The Crew 2 at its E3 2017 press conference, and players will be getting behind the wheel of more than just cars this time.

The announcement trailer opens with a plane zooming between the skyscrapers of New York City, before it settles on an intense street race. Pretty soon, the world opens up, showing off planes, helicopters, and speedboats. Off-roading will also be a big part of The Crew 2, with dirt bikes and off-road trucks making their debut.

Ubisoft has expanded the map its already expansive map from the first game to allow for the new variety of land, sea, and air vehicles, and players will be able to switch between vehicles on the fly.

Expect The Crew 2 to arrive early 2018 for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC. Enhanced versions will be coming for Xbox One X and PlayStation 4 Pro.

Michael Goroff has been gaming for almost three decades. He's a lover of all games and systems, but he mostly plays Xbox. That being said, if he's a fanboy, he's a fanboy for the game industry as a whole. Spit white-hot fanboy hate at him, trash talk his Gold II rank on Rocket League, or maybe just send him a cordial hello on Twitter @gogogoroff.

The Crew 2 will move beyond the open road
