Massive has promised that the PC version of its open world shooter The Division will be a “full-fledged, optimized version,” not just a simple port of the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 version.

“As you know, Massive has its roots in PC development,” the developer said. “We are working hard and we want to make sure that we have a very high quality experience on PC.”

Developers are often criticized for not devoting enough time to the PC version of multiplatform games, but Massive aims to buck that trend. “You can be sure that our PC version won’t be a port, but a full-fledged, optimised version,” the developer added. “We want to create the best game possible regardless of what platform you play on.”

At the VGX awards earlier this month Ubisoft showed off the game’s Snowdrop Engine, which has been specially designed for The Division.

The Division is set to release in 2014 for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC.
