The Elder Scrolls Online Announced

It’s no longer a dream—Bethesda has just announced the much requested MMO The Elder Scrolls Online.
The game is due to release in 2013 for PC and Mac. It will be set 1000 years before Skyrim, with Daedric prince Molag Bal attempting to incorporate Tamriel into his realm.
“We have been working hard to create an online world in which players will be able to experience the epic Elder Scrolls universe with their friends, something fans have long said they wanted,” said game director Matt Firor. “It will be extremely rewarding finally to unveil what we have been developing the last several years. The entire team is committed to creating the best MMO ever made – and one that is worthy of The Elder Scrolls franchise.”
Little is known about the game at the moment, except that it will offer traditional Elder Scrolls exploration, as well as PVP which pits three factions against each other for control of Cyrodiil.
Fans have been begging for this for so many years—now that it has finally been announced, it’s difficult to believe. This is a major undertaking, and will have a lot of hype riding with it through to 2013. They’ve made a wise decision not to release it this year however, with several major MMOs out at the moment there’s a good chance that it wouldn’t have been able to compete. By the time this release people will be looking for something new, can The Elder Scrolls fill that gap?
