The Elder Scrolls Online Geared Toward Both Solo and Group Players

Posted on July 16, 2013 AT 11:29am

Despite making the leap from single-player RPG to MMO, The Elder Scrolls Online will cater to both solo adventurers and those who like to explore dungeons as a group, according to a Q&A on the game’s official blog.

“The Elder Scrolls Online is set up to be a fluid experience,” the post reads. “As you wander the landscape you’ll encounter caves, forts, tombs, dungeons, and etc. Certain rare locales will just be for solo players, and some dungeons are meant for groups made only of people you choose to go in with. Most locales, however, will be accessible by everyone. Some might be too dangerous for you because of your current level, but you can always come back when you are more powerful if you want to complete them solo.”

ESO‘s dungeons will be more meandering than its offline counterparts, but will focus more on combat encounters over their navigation. According to the dev team, dungeons in ESO won’t have lockout timers—players can return to them as often as they care to.

The Elder Scrolls Online is set to launch on Windows PC, OS X, PS4, and Xbox One  the first half of 2014.
