The Last of Us’ first story-driven DLC, Left Behind, will show a “more playful” side of Ellie, voice actress Ashley Johnson revealed in a recent interview with PlayStation Blog.
“It’d definitely different,” Johnson said. “It’s a little bit more ‘fun,’ because you have two teenage girls going through a mall It’s kind of like a post-pandemic version of two teenage girls hanging out. Definitely not a normal hangout! It’s very different—a little more playful.”
According to Johnson, The Last of Us, differences in how Left Behind “feels” extend beyond seeing a more playful, less burdened version of Ellie. The environment and even combat, while “familiar from the original campaign,” will contain “new touches and nuances” as well.
Fist announced at the PlayStation 4 Launch Event on November 14, 2013, Left Behind is set before the events of the main game and tells the story of a younger Ellie and her best friend, Riley. The DLC is set to launch “early 2014,” no doubt before the end of the fiscal year (so before the end of March).
