The Last Of Us

An exchange between a Naughty Dog forums member and Naughty Dog community manager revealed that The Last of Us‘ multiplayer was censored in several countries.

The discrepancies between U.S. and European/PAL versions of the game’s multiplayer were picked up on by Naughty Dog forums member Ramify, who says the U.S. version contains “a lot more blood than the Europe/PAL version.” According to Ramify, “dismemberment is clearly visible in Survivors, where the head, arms, and legs can be seen blow off for the entire round, and with extra blood!”

Ramify reported his findings to a community manager, who responded to Ramify via private message.

“The gore and violence ratings are subject to local regulatory boards in various countries, so the game must be slightly changed in order to accommodate those choices,” reads the private message Ramify received. “To be honest, I’m not sure what version Australia is getting. If you import the North/South American version, it will not be censored, but EU/UK will be.”
