THE BUZZ: Some new gameplay details regarding Naughty Dog’s PlayStation 3 exclusive The Last of Us have appeared online, and it’s not quite as Uncharted as you may think.
The details come from the latest issue of Official PlayStation Magazine and claim that the game won’t be as linear as the Uncharted series, but won’t be open world. Players can enter various locations around the environment, however this is purely optional. Also revealed was that ammo will be in short supply meaning no shoot outs, rounds will have to be scavenged, however details on scavaging were not divulged.
-Not as linear as the Uncharted games but not open world, you can choose to go into places such as a coffee shop, but its optional
-Ammo is in short supply, so don’t expect shootouts like in Uncharted.
-There will be situations where you have to help your partner, but not in an obvious way.
EGM’s TAKE: The Last of Us seems like a massive undertaking on the part of Naughty Dog, and based on previous Uncharted efforts fans are drooling with anticipation. However, with no solid details, or real gameplay to speak of, it’s difficult to tell just how well this one will turn out, but we have high hopes.
