It’s not much, but a simple tease by The Last of Us Part II‘s game director is enough to reignite our excitement for E3.
In recent post on Twitter, The Last of Us Part II game director Neil Druckmann posted the modest message “T-minus 3 weeks. #E32018”. The image accompanying the post was from the game’s original announcement trailer, so fans are still in the dark about what exactly developer Naughty Dog is bringing to the event.

Following the game’s Paris Games Week 2017 story trailer, details on the upcoming survival game have been nearly nonexistent, outside of passing mentions from its actors and tweets revealing the animals that will star in the game. (Stop the presses, right?) As the game has been confirmed for over a year now and we’ve already had two story trailers, a gameplay demonstration seems like the only route for Naughty Dog at this E3, assuming the developers don’t want a riot on their hands.
While the confirmation is reassuring, we already knew The Last of Us Part II would play some role in Sony’s presence at E3 2018 from an official post to the PlayStation Blog. In addition to The Last of Us Part II, PlayStation is showing off Death Stranding, Marvel’s Spider-Man, and Ghost of Tsushima. Definitely a quality-over-quantity kind of year for PlayStation.
The Last of Us Part II does not currently have a release date, but its exclusive PlayStation 4 launch is expected to land sometime in 2019.
