The Last Of Us

Naughty Dog has updated fans on the status of The Last of Us Part II, though the news may not be information fans want to hear.

The Game Awards 2018 are set to unveil 10 new games and show off the progress of many games in development, but The Last of Us Part II won’t be in attendance at this year’s show. As Naughty Dog revealed in a tweet, the company doesn’t have “anything new to share” on the game at the moment.

“We’re looking forward to celebrating a year of incredible games at [The Game Awards] this Thursday, however, we won’t have anything new to share from The Last of Us Part II,” Naught Dog wrote. “We’re hard at work and looking forward to revealing more when the time is right!”

That time might still be a good ways off. The last time we saw The Last of Us Part II was at E3 2018, when Naughty Dog revealed a new cutscene and some of the title’s first gameplay.

That doesn’t mean there isn’t anything to look forward to at The Game Awards, though. So far, we know we’ll see a special announcement about Fortnite, “something special” from Nintendo, and the new RPG from Obsidian Entertainment. Rumors suggest that we’ll see Crash Team Racing and get word of Dragon Age 4 as well. We’ll find out when The Game Awards kick off on Thursday, December 6th.
