The Last of Us Players Reporting Autosave-Disabling Bug [Update: Fixed]

The Last of Us players are reporting a bug causing the game’s autosave function to fail.

According to a report from IGN, progress is completely lost unless players manually save. The issue is said to be caused by the game’s day-one patch—patch 1.01—and connection to the PlayStation Network.

Naughty Dog acknowledged the issue on their official Twitter account, promising an update shortly. For now, the best solution to the issue is to avoid the patch—stay offline, or delete the patch and keep your PS3 offline.

The Last of Us launched this morning, available exclusively on PlayStation 3. Most of the press really dug it, including the EGM crew. For a more thorough review of Naughty Dog’s latest, check out Eric L. Patterson’s review.

Update: Naughty Dog reports they’ve sussed out the issue, saying it had something to do with the servers on their end. It’s now been repaired. Players simply need to restart the game in order for it to take affect. Both single-player and multiplayer are fully functional.
