The Last of Us wins WGA’s Outstanding Achievement in Writing for Videogames

Neil Druckmann and Naughty Dog’s The Last of Us have won the Writers Guild of America’s Outstanding Achievement in Writing for Videogames.

The winner for Outstanding Achievement in Writing for Videogames was announced during the 2014 Writers Guild Awards on February 1.

The Last of Us and writer Druckmann beat out Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag and writers Darby McDevitt, Mustapha Mahrach, Jean Guesdon, Jill Murray, Nicholas Grimwood, and Mark Llabres Hill; Batman: Arkham Origins and writers Dooma Wendschuh, Ryan Galletta, and Corey May; God of War: Ascension and writers Marianne Krawczyk and Ariel Lawrence; and, finally, Lost Planet 3 and writers Richard Gaubert, Orion Walker, and Matt Sophos.

Naughty Dog’s post-pandemic third-person action/stealth title joins previous winners Assassin’s Creed III and writers Richard Farrese and Jill Murray, Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception and writer Amy Hennig, Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood and writers Patrice Desilets, Jeffrey Yohalem, Corey May, Ethan Petty, Nicholas Grimwood, and Matt Turner, and Uncharted 2: Among Thieves and writer Amy Hennig.
