Hinterland Studio’s “first-person post-disaster survival simulation” The Long Dark ended its Kickstarter funding period today, surpassing its CA$200,000 goal by an additional CA$56,217.
The added funding will allow Hinterland to develop two of its original stretch goals: an exclusive downloadable graphic novel and an extended game soundtrack. Funding for The Long Dark will continue on the game’s official website through PayPal. The money earned through any additional funding will go to Hinterland’s two remaining streth goals: German, Italian, French, and Spanish game translations plus radio play at CA$275,000 and Russian, Swedish, Finnish, and Dutch translations plus voiced graphic novel at CA$300,000.
Hinterland recently announced two prolific videogame voice actors would be contributing to The Long Dark: Jennifer Hale of FemShep fame and David Hayter, former Snake voice actor for the Metal Gear Solid series.
The Long Dark is scheduled to launch for Windows PC, Mac OS X, and Linux (DRM-Free) October 2014.
