THE BUZZ: Sega’s upcoming Sonic Generations will be merging the various worlds of the Sonic franchise together, as the game sees Classic Sonic and Modern Sonic teaming up to tear through three generations of Sonic stages.
Previously we’ve seen footage of the game’s homages to the Genesis and Dreamcast eras of Sonic, and today, we’ve now got a third trailer looking at the Modern Era. Included here are hints at three areas—Crisis City, Rooftop Run, and Planet Wisp—coming from 2006′s Sonic the Hedgehog, 2008′s Sonic Unleashed, and 2010′s Sonic Colors.
EGM’s TAKE: My love for Sonic from the Genesis days cooled off quit a bit for many years, but lately Sega seems to really be trying to get the franchise back on track. Sonic Colors was a great game (from what I’ve played of it), and Sonic Generations seems like a terrific concept. The early demo was a little hard to play for me—there was just so much craziness going on screen—but I’m hoping that final game polish will come into play and turn the title into something I can enjoy.
