A long-time dream of Fallout and The Elder Scrolls fans may be about to become a reality: Bethesda Game Studios is looking to hire someone with multiplayer experience to work on its next games.

Many fans have asked for the ability to pull a friend into the mountains of Skyrim or grab a buddy to explore the Boston wastelands in Fallout 4, but Bethesda’s big titles generally offer only a single-player experience. The latest job posting for the studio, however, asks for a Senior Core Tech Engineer with “experience developing for online multiplayer environment[s].”

It’s worth noting that this job is specifically for Bethesda Game Studios, not ZeniMax Online Studios, which runs spin-off The Elder Scrolls Online. This means that we’ll likely be seeing “online multiplayer” in one of Bethesda’s next main games. What isn’t clear is which game this new hire will work on. It could be Fallout or The Elder Scrolls, sure, but it may also be something else entirely. Bethesda stated recently that it has three new secret projects in the works, so there’s still a fair bit of mystery surrounding the studio’s future.

Since Bethesda is just now hiring, it’s reasonable to assume we won’t be hearing any updates on this project anytime soon. Still, we’ll be sure to keep an ear out at E3 2017.
