The long-awaited next game from Fallout: New Vegas creators Obsidian Entertainment has been unveiled, and it may win over an audience burned by Fallout 76.
Called The Outer Worlds, this new RPG looks like a mix of Borderlands, Fallout: New Vegas, and No Man’s Sky. An RPG set in space, it has the player emerge from what looks like cryosleep into a space frontier that’s been taken over by corporations.
In addition to showing off the colorful new world, the cast of characters, and some wacky alien monsters, the first trailer for The Outer Worlds promises to bring back fans’ favorite part of New Vegas: choice. One scene shows two characters arguing, with the player told to choose one side or the other – only for a third character to approach and scold the player after shooting one of the two, telling them they didn’t need to actually shoot either one if they didn’t want to. Since New Vegas was most lauded for its hugely branching storylines and stories that would change widely depending on who players allied with and the approach they took to each situation, it looks like Obsidian is continuing the trend in The Outer Worlds.
The Outer Worlds is set to release in 2019.
