Pokemon Go

Ever since Meltan, Pokémon’s newest Mythical, was revealed, players have been anxious to hear how and when they’ll be able to get their hands on one. The Pokémon Company has finally answered those burning questions, as well as if Meltan will have more than one form.

In a new episode of The Two Professors, Professor Oak reveals to Professor Willow that a mysterious box can make the Mythical Pokémon appear. However, the box will only remain open for a certain amount of time.

As revealed in a tweet from the official Pokémon account, players will be able to receive and open one of these boxes by trading a ‘mon from Pokémon Go to Pokémon: Let’s Go. Then, the Go account will have a limited time to catch Meltan. This confirms that the Mythical will only be obtainable in Niantic’s mobile game, but it will be able to be traded to Let’s Go.

There could also be a chance for Go trainers to get Meltan earlier than the release of the Nintendo Switch title. A new set of Special Research tasks will supposedly be coming soon, similar to the quests trainers have been able to complete to find Mew and Celebi.

Another trailer was also revealed that provides a possible hint at Meltan having an evolution. As seen in the footage below, a trainer documents their time with the Steel-type Pokémon, noting the various quirks it possesses. Then, in the end, a cluster of Meltan merge and we are shown a silhouette of a larger creature that has the Mythical Pokémon’s head shape.

While it seems highly likely that The Pokémon Company has teased there’s another form of Meltan, players will just have to wait for confirmation.

Pokémon Go is available for iOS and Android. Pokémon: Let’s Go, Pikachu! and Pokémon: Let’s Go, Eevee! are set to launch on November 16th for Nintendo Switch.
