Lulzsec the notorious hacking group recently announced that they were calling it quits, after 50 days of attacking many different companies they revealed that they were shutting down operations.

There has been a lot of speculation as to why they suddenly stopped operations, the group claim it was because the attacks was only supposed to last 50 days and the time had come to stop, however a PasteBin post may reveal the real reasons why.

A group known as the A-Team claims to have uncovered the identities of every member of Lulzsec and have posted the details up for everyone to see. The information is so detailed that the authorities could easily track down any member of the group quite easily, if the information is indeed correct.

“To understand who/whatlulzsec/gn0sisare/is you need to understand
where they came from. Everything originates from the
*chan(4chan/711chan/etc.) culture. This internet subculture is pretty
much the dregs of the internet. It’s a culture built around the
anonymity of the internet. If your anonymous no one can find you. No
one can hurt you, so your invincible. The problem with this ideology,
is it’ on the internet. The internet by definition is not anonymous.
Computers have to have attribution. If you trace something back far
enough you can find itsorigins…Sowe’ve been tracking and
infiltrating these kids since thegawkerhack. We have theD0x(as they
call it)on everyone exceptSabuand Kayla. First we’ll go with the kid
who did thegawkerhack: Uncommon.”

If this information is true then it certainly explains why the group has ceased its attacks.
