The sequel to Life is Strange is coming sooner than we thought

The sequel to Life is Strange has a release date, and it’s much sooner than anyone expected.

The game is officially called Life is Strange 2, and the first episode launches on September 27th. Like the first game, there will be five episodes total.

To be clear, Life is Strange 2 is separate from the recently-announced The Awesome Adventures of Captain Spirit, which also takes place in the Life is Strange “universe.” Captain Spirit will tie into the overarching story of Life is Strange 2, and choices that players make in Captain Spirit will carry over into Life is Strange 2 if players keep their data on the same system. While Life is Strange 2 is a sequel, Captain Spirit can be played without any knowledge of the other games.

We don’t know much about either game. Neither one will take place in Arcadia Bay, the setting of the first Life is Strange and prequel game Before the Storm. We also don’t know if the game will pick up with Max and Chloe from the first game, or if it will contain an entirely original cast of characters. According to the announcement, more details will be coming in August, and we may get a few clues in Captain Spirit ahead of time.

The Awesome Adventures of Captain Spirit launches entirely for free on June 25th for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC. The first chapter of Life is Strange 2 debuts on September 27th for the same consoles, with four other chapters to come at later dates.
