The Skull Kid Will be an Assist Trophy in Super Smash Bros.

Posted on December 6, 2013 AT 05:23am

The Skull Kid from The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask will be included in Super Smash Bros. as an Assist Trophy, game director Masahiro Sakurai has announced.

Sakurai posted the following on Miiverse: “Here’s a new Assist Trophy—the Skull Kid! I repeat, it’s an Assist Trophy, not a new fighter. The characters announced on the website are the fighters!”

For those that are unaware, an Assist Trophy is an item which can be grabbed during a match. Once obtained it will summon a random Nintendo character, who will aid the summoner during the fight. Only one Assist Trophy can be active at any one time.

So far the confirmed roster for Super Smash Bros. includes Marth, Sonic, Toon Link, Peach, Luigi, Pikmin and Olimar, Mario, Animal Crossing Villager, Donkey Kong, Mega Man, Wii Fit Trainer, Link, Samus, Kirby, Fox, Pikachu, Bowser, and Pit.

Super Smash Bros. is set to release in 2014 for Nintendo 3DS and Wii U.
