The Vanishing of Ethan Carter design philosophy narrated over 13-minute gameplay video

Posted on August 21, 2014 AT 01:25pm

In a new 13-minute gameplay video, The Astronauts co-founder and game designer Adrian Chmielarz discusses the studio’s design philosophies behind their upcoming horror-adventure game, The Vanishing of Ethan Carter.

Int he video (seen above), Chmielarz takes players through the title’s early few minutes, talking along the way about the team’s decision to remove barriers and allow access to the width and breadth of Red Creek Valley, the game’s fictional setting, among other things relating to design.

First revealed over a year ago, though originally being built first and foremost for PC, Sony announced during Gamescom last week that The Astronauts’ debut would be coming to PS4, as well, when it launches later this year.

Later this year, in this case, meaning a month from now: The Vanishing of Ethan Carter arrives on Windows PC and PS4 September 26.
