The Vanishing of Ethan Carter getting boxed release through Nordic Games

Posted on June 27, 2014 AT 12:05pm

The Vanishing of Ethan Carter will get a boxed, physical release courtesy of Nordic Games, the publisher announced today.

The Vanishing of Ethan Carter immediately had the finger on our pulse,” Nordic Games’ business and product development director Reinhard Pollice said in a press statement. “We’re excited to be involved with this one-of-a-kind horror/mystery game and the atmosphere it conveys on screenshots and trailers already. To collaborate with [developer] The Astronauts is the icing on the cake.”

Announced February 2013, The Vanishing of Ethan Carter is, according to The Astronauts, “inspired by the weird fiction stories and other tales of the macabre of the early 20th century.” The game employes photorealistic graphics through photogrammetry, a technique to creating 3D models through high-speed imaging and remote sensing.

While currently slated only announced for Windows PC, The Astronauts have expressed their desire to bring their debut to PS4 and Xbox One down the line. Their priority, for now, however, is completing the PC version. It’s expected to launch late summer/early fall.
