UPDATE: It’s alive folks! Sony has just updated the PlayStation Store with Episode 2, so go and download it right now.
ORIGINAL: The pitchforks are out, and angry fans are trying to bang down Sony’s door after The Walking Dead: Episode 2 failed to materialize on the European PlayStation Store, for the second week running.
After the delay last week, fans expected the game to hit the service this week, finally allowing them to continue their adventure. Sadly this wasn’t the case. The update came and went with no sign of the episode, leaving fans to vent their anger on the official PlayStation Blog.
Sony’s Jawad Ashraf responded to the complaints by saying, “Telltale will announce anything once ready. We’re working with them on it but they’d be the ones to comment further. Sorry. I want it just as much you guys so I feel your pain.”
“Licensing, market and a host of other business and non-business decisions all play a part,” he added. “What is often forgotten is the EU consists of not just one or two countries – it includes a variety (36!), meaning a lot more localizing must be done. Certain games also retain licenses only in certain territories or have expired rights”
“There’s generally so many factors that can often lead to games being delayed or totally cancelled for specific regions, and sometimes this cannot be helped.”
Telltale’s latest tweet on the delay reads: “We’re working with our partners at SCEE to finalize a release date for The Walking Dead: Ep. 2 on PSN EU. We’ll update as soon as we can.”
Telltale made a promise that a new episode would be released every month, so far they have not delivered on that promise as far as European PlayStation 3 owners are concerned.
Are you looking forward to finally playing episode 2?
