THE BUZZ: CD Projekt Red reveled some numbers for how their fantasy RPG The Witcher 2 did in 2011—and those numbers are good.

EGM’s TAKE: Unfortunately this generation, we’ve had a lot of stories about publishers and developers falling upon tough times. So, whenever news comes along about a game creator having their product sell well, it’s always something we love to hear.

That’s the case today with The Witcher 2, which Eurogamer reports sold 1,110,055 copies last year on the PC. PC gaming is dead? Hardly!

What’s very interesting, however, is that only 270,000 of those copies were sold via digital distribution services—I really, really thought that number would have been higher. 40,000 of those were confirmed to be via GOG.com, so Eurogamer postulates that most of the remaining 230k no doubt came from being sold via Steam.

As another piece of good news, it was also announced that The Witcher 1—originally released in 2007—sold 401,543 copies in 2011. Not bad at all for a five-year-old game!
