THE BUZZ: The Witcher 2:Assassin’s of Kings Enhanced Edition has been given an official release date on Xbox 360.

The game will be released worldwide on April 17, CD Projekt has announced. “The Xbox 360 version is a complete adaptation of the game to the new platform, we’ve rewritten the code so it feels native to the console. This latest version of The Witcher 2 has been expanded in many ways, and some experts believe it to be one of the best-looking games ever to make it to consoles,” said Adam Badowski, head of CD Projekt.

EGM’s TAKE: Some believed that the Witcher 2 would never make it to Xbox 360 due to a legal battle between THQ and Namco Bandai over publishing rights, a battle which Namco eventually won. The Xbox 360 version of the game includes new cinematics, quests, locations and NPCs, that were not included on the PC. However, the PC version will receive a free update containing all of the new content: “PC users who already own the game will be happy to learn that they will be able to download all the added content free of charge. At the same time, the Xbox 360 version will incorporate all DLCs and upgrades made available thus far for the game’s original platform (including the ‘Arena’ arcade mode and Tutorial that were part of the latest and richest PC version)” said Badowski.

Two versions of the game will be available, the regular edition includes two game discs, a soundtrack CD, quest book, world map and manual, and the Dark Edition which includes all of the regular content plus stickers, a medallion, artbook, making of DVD, and Dark Edition packaging.
