The Witcher’s Geralt of Rivia wasn’t content with just being a guest character in Soulcalibur VI. Turns out he wanted to be on the box as well.
Fans can see Soulcalibur VI‘s official PS4 and Xbox One box art on Amazon’s recently posted listing for the game. The artwork features two fighters back-to-back, with the first being series veteran Mitsurugi, while the second is the recently announced Geralt. You can check out the PS4 box art below, though the Xbox One art features the same layout.
Geralt’s role in Soulcalibur VI was first teased on Twitter by Witcher developer CD Projekt Red, before a reveal trailer showed off gameplay of the monster hunter in the iconic fighting series. Based on this early look, Geralt fits in well with the best Soulcalibur has to offer, using powerful magic and precision swordplay to one-up his opponents.
Soulcalibur VI‘s Amazon listing dates the game’s release as December 31st, 2018, but this is, of course, just a placeholder. We don’t yet know the exact date Soulcalibur VI will launch, but we know it is dropping sometime this year on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
This may be the last time we see Geralt in a new game for a while—or ever—as CD Projekt RED is currently hard at work on a new upcoming property, Cyberpunk 2077, which is widely expected to surface at this year’s E3.
