The Xbox One backward compatibility program is finally adding the Halo games we’ve waited months for
As Larry “Major Nelson” Hryb announced on Twitter, Halo 3, the Halo 3: ODST Campaign Edition, Halo 4, and Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary are all playable on the Xbox One as of today. With the Halo series being one of Microsoft’s most popular by far, this is huge news for anyone who longs for the pre-Halo 5: Guardians content.

In order to play Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary, players will need to own a physical disc version of the game. The other three titles, however, will be playable with both the original Xbox 360 discs and as digital downloads.
These aren’t the first Halo games to appear as part of the Xbox backward compatibility program, since Halo: Reach, Halo: Spartan Assault, and Halo Wars have all been added previously. However, they’re the biggest games in the series we’ve seen by far.
