Purported God of War release date “leaks” have come and gone in the past without amounting to anything, but this latest incident, in which two different game retailers posted the same date in a short span of time, might be worth a closer look.
Greek gaming website VideoGames24 discovered that two separate online gaming retailers—the Greek site GamesCom.gr and an unnamed Czech site—both listed God of War‘s release date as May 23rd, 2018. The two listings can be seen below.
According to VideoGames24 (based on an interpretation of the Google translation), GamesCom.gr is known to have accurately confirmed the release date for the Crash Bandicoot N.Sane Trilogy prior to its reveal, giving us reason to believe this release date as well.
God of War‘s recent Paris Games Week trailer confirmed the game’s launch window as early 2018, and it is up for debate whether late May could be considered “early” in the year. In any case, these leaks are likely more accurate than a previous one, which had the game coming out on June 30th.
Whenever we finally see God of War hit shelves, its release will be exclusive to the PlayStation 4.
